Corneal crosslinking approved for keratoconus

Corneal Crosslinking

Comprehensive EyeCare of Central Ohio is pleased to announce that a major breakthrough in the treatment of keratoconus, a condition that thins the cornea causing it to bulge irregularly, has been approved by the FDA.  Corneal collagen crosslinking is an in-office procedure that strengthens the cornea to halt the progression of the bulging by using special eye drops that are activated within the corneal tissue by exposure to a certain wavelength of light. Traditional treatments of keratoconus include the use of hard contact lenses and corneal transplantation.  Dr. Kenneth Beckman has extensive experience with this procedure, having participated in two of the Avedro FDA clinical trials for corneal crosslinking and will now be able to provide this service to keratoconus patients.
